Ocean

Cold, crisp, deep
Ocean

Camp
 Scary, fun, exciting
Camp

Stone
 Smooth, small, colorful
Stone

Creek
Flowing, calm, chilly
Creek

Redwood
Enormous, resistant
Towering, shading, connecting
Beautifully towering over us
Unique

Poison Oak
Dangerous, olive green
Itching, spreading, growing
If I touch it a rash will form
Horrible

Hermit Crab
Fast, tiny
Skittering, feasting, grouping
Shell, pinchers, fins, beak
Snapping, flowing, amazing
Slow, huge
Sea Turtle

The Thicket

The gnarled branches blooming
The rustling of the wind through twigs
The rough, pointy, fragile frame
The fertilized earth around me
The jagged leaves I rub

                                 Banana Slug
The black-spotted banana slug
The silence of its squishy movements
The slimy, slippery, numbness of its body
The rain in the air and the damp of the forest floor
The isolation of the large decomposer
