In early November, the
4th graders began studying the California Gold Rush. We ventured
to Coloma, the site of the discovery by James Marshall that changed
the history of many countries. During the trip, we visited the
mill, toured the discovery site, explored the museum and outside
exhibits, went up the hill through the graveyard to examine Marshall's
cabin and finally reached the top where James Marshall is buried.
We ended our busy day by trying our luck at gold panning along
the same river that produced the gold that James Marshall found
way back on January 24, 1848.
During the trip, Mr. Seifert
was busy taking pictures. The following pages display some of
the photos that he took that day and represent our trip well.
Thank you very much for your photography, Mr. Seifert!
