The debris of logs in the creek ahead of me. The water hitting and stopping on stones and sticks. Little drops of water in  my mouth. A very faint smell of all the flowers in the area. All the wet logs as I cross the debris.

Night Hike Like a cricket making sound in the woods. Like a bat eating a moth. Like a scary night outside locked out from your house.  Like a river flowing below you in an unsteady pattern. Like a mountain with rocks all over that you nearly trip on. Like a tree tall enough to hover over you. Like a surprising  rock hard to see in the dark.

The tallest trees in the world in front me. The air and wind rushing past me. The redwood sorrel that is bitter and sour. The scent of the trees around me. The rubbing of the hiking stick I carried.
